TRENTON, N.J. — Acting Gov. Richard Codey on Friday signed a bill that requires school bus drivers to check their buses for pupils at the end of each run.
A driver who leaves a student stranded will incur a six-month suspension for the first offense. In the case of a second offense, or if a child left on a bus is injured as a result of gross negligence on the part of the driver, the driver's license will be permanently revoked.
