WEST CHESTER, Pa. — Krapf School Bus, a division of Krapf Bus Companies, has a new chief operating officer: Jim Folkes.

Folkes joined Krapf Bus Companies in 2010 and most recently served as vice president of Krapf School Bus. He has 20 years of experience working in the school transportation industry.

As chief operating officer, officials said he will be responsible for all hands-on operational aspects of the company, and he will be instrumental in seeking new business opportunities and positioning the organization for growth.

Officials also said that Folkes promotes and fosters operations excellence, service excellence and maintenance excellence throughout the company.

He earned his MBA from Temple University.

Shawn McGlinchey, also of Krapf Bus Companies, was recently promoted to vice president of risk management. McGlinchey joined Krapf in 2010 as director of risk management following 23 years of extensive experience in the safety/risk management arena with Harleysville Insurance Co.

As Krapf’s vice president of risk management, officials said McGlinchey will continue to be responsible for the oversight of the safety and risk management activities and the corporate commercial insurance programs for all entities of the Krapf Bus Companies.

A retired U.S. Coast Guard officer, McGlinchey holds safety professional designations from New York, Arkansas and Pennsylvania, and he is a licensed commercial lines insurance broker. Additionally, he is a National Safety Council certified defensive driving instructor and a qualified planning section chief for federal responses.

Krapf Bus Companies is now in its third generation of family leadership. It has been providing school transportation for more than 70 years, operating more than 2,500 school buses in five states, as well as a nationwide motorcoach service, and transit and paratransit services in Pennsylvania.
