TULSA, Okla. — On Wednesday, IC Corporation commemorated the manufacture of its 50,000th school bus, which will be delivered to Ardmore (Okla.) City Schools.
The event was marked with a celebration at the company's Tulsa school bus plant, honoring its workforce of more than 1,100 employees.
"Today marks a milestone for both IC Corporation and the Tulsa bus plant," said Michael Cancelliere, vice president and general manager of IC Corporation. "From the very first bus that came off of the line April 11, 2001, to the 50,000th bus that is rolling off of the line today, we're proud to provide quality school buses that have safely transported millions of children to and from school." The Tulsa plant covers 115 acres and was initially built in 1941 by the U.S. Air Force to produce B-24 bombers. It is currently home to IC Corporation's CE Series bus model.
