WICHITA, Kan. — First Student’s location here has achieved a perfect score of 100% on its latest state inspections.

The Kansas Highway Patrol conducts inspections on school buses before the beginning of every school year. Troopers check all mechanical aspects and safety features to ensure school buses are operating safely in the state.

“We recognize the importance of making sure students have a safe and reliable way to get to and from school,” said Kary Dixon, senior location manager at First Student Wichita. “Our maintenance standards are among the most stringent in the industry. Receiving a 100% on fleet inspections shows our dedication to maintaining vehicles to the highest safety standards.”

First Student’s Wichita location operates out of two facilities. Both facilities earned perfect scores on state inspections this year. The company maintains and operates a fleet of more than 500 buses for Wichita Public Schools. Approximately 16,000 students in the district ride First Student buses every school day.

First Student buses follow a daily, monthly, and annual vehicle maintenance program. Additionally, First Student drivers use fleet inspection technology to conduct a multi-point inspection at the beginning and end of each route.
