Bus partially submerged on flooded road
The bus, which is carrying more than 50 elementary school students, is swept into a ditch and water enters the back of the bus after the driver tries to navigate the road. The sheriff's department evacuates the students using trucks.
LAWTELL, La. — A school bus carrying more than 50 elementary school students became partially submerged Tuesday while traveling on a flooded road, the Daily World reports.
Minutes after the bus left the elementary school, the driver tried to navigate through the water on the road, which reportedly appeared to be 2 to 3 feet deep. The bus was swept into a ditch and water entered the bus, flooding part of the back.
The sheriff's department came to the scene with trucks and removed the students from the bus. They were taken to a dry patch of land and transported back to school on another bus.
