Bus driver aids in teen’s safe return to her family
Bobbie Blevins becomes suspicious when she sees the student get into the back seat of a car that she doesn’t recognize. Blevins returns to her district’s bus garage and police are notified — police later arrest the three men who were in the car.
SHORTSVILLE, N.Y. — A school bus driver is being credited for helping to get a 16-year-old girl safely back to her family after three men drove away from a school with the teen in their car, according to a story on whec.com.
Bobbie Blevins was transporting the Manchester-Shortsville Central School District student on Monday when she overheard her say on the phone, “OK, we’re at the school now, but put your window down in the car so I’ll know it’s you.”
Blevins felt this was suspicious, so she watched the girl as she disembarked the bus and got into the back seat of a car that Belvins didn’t recognize. When Blevins returned to the school district’s bus garage, she informed her supervisors of what she witnessed, and they notified police and the girl’s family. The car was later stopped in Bath, N.Y., and the three men were arrested. The Ontario County Sheriff's Office told the news source that the girl met one of the men online, and they’d planned to meet at the school.
