STA offers 'stimulus plan' to school districts

The contractor has designated $100 million to help district-owned pupil transportation operations convert to privatized service with the aim of reducing costs so that more money can be spent on education. STA says it will replace older buses, hire local and existing bus drivers, and purchase equipment and supplies from local merchants.

New legislation would increase Georgia school system retirees’ monthly payments to $16 (up from $15) multiplied by the number of their years of creditable service. The benefit would apply to those employees who have already retired as well as to future retirees.

First Student wins Kansas contract
