Arrests made in fatal crash involving school buses

Two men transporting buses to Mexico are taken into custody on Wednesday and face various charges, including involuntary manslaughter. According to the Kansas State Patrol, a school bus being towed by another bus got a flat tire, so the driver detached the buses and they sat in the roadway, leading to an accident that killed a motorist.

Trans Tech Bus National Sales Manager Brian Barrington says these dealers provide “excellent customer service before, during and after the sale.”

Durham wins new Wisconsin, Illinois contracts

Beginning in August, the school bus contractor will serve the School District of Beloit (Wis.) and Red Bud (Ill.) Community School Unit #132. For the first district, Durham will operate routes with 33 buses, and for the latter district, the company will operate routes with 23 buses.

Teacher unknowingly allows sex offender on school bus

On the way back from a field trip, the teacher offers a student's parent and the parent’s male companion a ride on the bus. It's later discovered that the man is a registered sex offender. The California district’s superintendent says the incident is a “breach of our policy.”

Alabama students honored for actions during bus hijacking

Dr. Thomas Bice, Alabama’s superintendent of schools, presents proclamations to each of the students who were on their school bus when it was hijacked by gunman Jimmy Lee Dykes, who allegedly shot driver Charles Poland and then abducted one student. Bice says the students displayed safety skills that Poland taught them, and he recounts how the students loved Poland.
