Bus driver on leave after train tracks incident

The driver for a Louisiana district was placed on administrative leave after receiving a citation for driving around lowered railroad crossing guards in front of an oncoming train. At least 30 students were on the bus. Officials say the train was about 200 feet from the intersection when the bus crossed the tracks.

Buses evacuated after student finds fake grenade

In the ongoing investigation, police say that after the student found the object on the bus, it was reportedly given to the bus driver, who evacuated the bus and notified officials. A bomb squad determines that it did not pose a threat, but students were also removed from other buses at a high school and taken into the school.

New York bus drivers gear up for safety competition

7 school districts awarded grants for bus retrofits

The Jefferson County, Mo., districts will receive a total of $300,000 to equip school buses with emission-reducing equipment. The funding comes from lead producer Doe Run as part of an agreement with the EPA.
