TORRANCE, Calif. — SCHOOL BUS FLEET’s inaugural Photo Contest drew entries from more than 60 readers from across the United States and Canada.
With entrants submitting up to three photos each, the total number of contenders was approximately 145.
The SBF editorial staff chose one winning shot and two runners-up in each of three categories — equipment, operations and maintenance.
Editor Steve Hirano said the entries showed that the industry not only has some top-notch photographers but a good sense of humor as well. “Some of the entries were quite funny,” he said. “Maybe we’ll take some of the humorous ones and create a follow-up caption contest.”
The results are as follows:
EQUIPMENT CATEGORY
John Horton, Aurora, Colo. (Winner)
Chandler (Ariz.) Unified School District (Honorable Mention)
Barry Prager, San Francisco (Honorable Mention)
OPERATIONS CATEGORY
James Kraemer, Lebanon, Ore. (Winner)
Lillian Ellis, Croton, N.Y. (Honorable Mention)
Patti Hankins, Bel Air, Md. (Honorable Mention)
MAINTENANCE CATEGORY

Janice Cochran, Boulder, Colo. (Honorable Mention)
Daniele Morgan, Mansfield, Ohio (Honorable Mention)
Winners in each category received $100 and a framed certificate. Each honorable mention received a framed certificate.
