New Jersey County Receives First Electric School Buses, Adding to State’s Total

George Dapper Inc. recently received two electric school buses, a first for Woodbridge, New Jersey, and Middlesex County.

In early May, George Dapper Inc., a third-generation student transportation contractor in Woodbridge, New Jersey, received two Thomas Built Buses Safe-T-Liner C2 Jouley electric school buses. 

According to the release, this milestone makes the company the first in Middlesex County to operate electric school buses, while the delivery contributes the 24th and 25th electric school buses to New Jersey's clean-energy fleet.

The delivery is part of a larger movement across the state to modernize school transportation while reducing emissions and promoting cleaner air.  

Funding for the electric buses and infrastructure was procured from the NJDEP RGGI grant, a multi-state grant program dedicated to advancing zero-emissions transportation.

"We are proud to bring the safest and cleanest air school buses to the students of Woodbridge, Middlesex County, and throughout the state of New Jersey," Carli Dapper, owner and operations manager of George Dapper Inc., said. “This is a new era for school transportation, and we're honored to lead the way. We're especially grateful to everyone who played a part in making this possible.” 

The mayor of Woodbridge Township, John E. McCormac, along with representatives from the Woodbridge Township Board of Education, transportation department, H.A. Dehart & Sons, Proton Group USA, George Dapper Inc. staff, and TV-35 Woodbridge were all in attendance for the delivery celebration.
