Switzer-Carty Transportation, founded in July 2011 by Jim Switzer and Doug Carty, on Aug. 31 acquired Dunn The Mover, a family owned and operated business since 1937.

"We look forward to welcoming all of the Dunn Team to Switzer-Carty," Switzer said. "We want to assure all our stakeholders in Niagara that it will be business as usual, and that all the professional drivers, technicians, and operations staff that have been serving the community will remain in place."

Dunn The Mover was started as a local moving company by Charles W. Dunn in Fort Erie, Ontario. In 1953, he bought three school buses to serve the community. Subsequently, he introduced his daughter, Linda Alringer, to the company. She succeeded him as president of the company in 1982. Arlinger in turn brought her daughter, Kathi Keller, into the business, and she worked her way up to vice president before becoming company president in 2020.

"The family-friendly atmosphere and tremendous caring for employees parallels our culture extremely well." Switzer said. "I remember years back hearing how Linda would proudly refer to her Dunn team as 'my people' and was always very impressed by that. That focus on people has continued under her daughter Kathi's leadership, and we are privileged and honored to carry this legacy forward."

Switzer and Carty were veteran transportation and school bus industry executives before they founded their company, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
