Dallas buys over 100 new buses, adds belts

Dallas County Schools has been acquiring a variety of new equipment for its giant fleet, from new school buses to lap-shoulder belts to stop-arm cameras. National survey finds 88K stop-arm passes

NASDPTS reports that the one-day sample represents nearly 16 million violations in one school year, up from about 13 million based on the 2011 count. Executive Director Bob Riley tells SBF that the results show that stop-arm running is "still a serious problem."

Ga. district's stop-arm violation program goes live

Carroll County Schools installs high-resolution cameras on the front and rear driver’s side of school buses to capture motorists who illegally pass stopped school buses. Violators are then issued a citation through the program operated by American Traffic Solutions.

Iowa adopts increased sanctions for illegal bus passing

The emergency administrative rule that took effect on Wednesday provides that a person’s driving privilege in the state will be suspended 30 days for a first conviction, 90 days for a second conviction and 180 days for a third or subsequent conviction. The rule adopted by the Iowa Department of Transportation is in response to the provisions of “Kadyn’s Law,” which was signed by Gov. Terry Branstad earlier this year.
