District may charge per-ride fee to ease budget woes

Faced with $31 million in cuts for the next school year, a Colorado school district may ask families of students who use the school bus to start paying $.50 per ride. To make this possible, the district is installing GPS units on each bus to track student ridership.

Ignition interlocks on buses help child care agency enhance safety

Rainbow Chimes Inc. has had the device, which prevents a bus driver under the influence of alcohol from operating a vehicle, installed on its buses. Sens-O-Lock of America provided the ignition interlocks, which also prevent drivers from leaving the bus running in an attempt to bypass the system prior to returning to drive the bus.
