The manufacturer's all-electric bus makes a stop at the Empire State Plaza in Albany on Thursday for a government VIP and media ride-along. Officials say the bus, which features an electric chassis from Smith Electric Vehicles, has a trip range of approximately 120 to 130 miles per charge and produces zero emissions.

Trans Tech promotes employees

Jose Vazquez is now director of operations and Andres Garcia is director of manufacturing for the school bus manufacturer. Vazquez has five years of experience in the school bus industry, and Garcia brings more than 26 years of experience in the school bus manufacturing industry to his new position. In other news, Trans Tech has added Wolfington Body Co. to its dealer network for the state of New Jersey.

Calif. agency to award $1M in grants for alt-fuel bus projects

Of the $1 million, $496,696 will go to Kings Canyon Unified School District in Reedley, and the rest will go to the San Diego Air Pollution Control District as part of the California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Technology Demonstration Project initiative. Kings Canyon’s grant money will fund two eTrans all-electric school buses, which will be among the buses the district loans out for trial operation at other school districts.
