Bus crashes into motel swimming pool

Officials for a Texas school district say that the bus was on its way to a school when it swerved off an access road, hit a utility pole and landed on top of one end of the pool. No children were on the bus, and the driver only sustained cuts and bruises.

Man tries to drive off in loaded school bus

Police in Palestine, Texas, say the 30-year-old man may have been involved in an altercation before he boarded a school bus and attempted to drive away. After struggling with the man, the bus driver and two bystanders were able to pull him from the bus and hold him on the ground until police arrived.

Authorities in Gonzales, Texas, arrest 17-year-old Layne Navarro and detain two other minors in connection with the incident, which occurred earlier this month. The 14 Gonzales Independent School District buses were broken into, and the onboard fire extinguishers were discharged.

District to reinstate free bus service

Regular-education students who live more than two miles from their home campus will be eligible for the service under a “blended transportation model” that the Keller (Texas) Independent School District’s board of trustees approves. The model will be implemented on Jan. 23, and students within the two-mile range will continue to have the option to purchase bus service for $75 per semester.

Texas district equips 400 buses with exterior cameras

Houston Independent School District outfits the buses with Safety Vision's SV-835 and SV-690 exterior cameras to increase student safety, and it plans to retrofit the rest of its buses next year. The district’s buses are also equipped with the company's RoadRecorder 6000 PRO mobile digital video recorder and four SV-830 dome interior cameras.
