The Georgetown Independent School District and the Georgetown Police Department partner with road safety camera provider American Traffic Solutions to crack down on illegal passing of school buses. A statewide survey in Texas last year found 9,825 instances of stop-arm running in one day.

Texas district cuts fuel costs by 33% with propane buses

Seguin Independent School District has been operating propane-powered school buses for six years, and it currently has 28 buses running on the fuel in its fleet, with plans to purchase more in the future. In addition to the savings in fuel costs, officials say the district has saved $500,000 since 2008 through the initial reimbursement for the purchase of the buses and the rebate on the fuel.
