Site of fatal school bus crash converted to traffic circle

The intersection in Chesterfield, N.J., where one student was killed and 17 others were injured when a dump truck struck their school bus in 2012, was previously controlled by a two-way stop sign. There were 15 accidents at the intersection between 2007 and 2011, but investigators determined that, based on the bus’s position, the layout of the intersection did not contribute to the 2012 accident.

NTSB issues preliminary report on motorcoach-FedEx truck crash

The FedEx truck, traveling southbound on Interstate 5, drove through the center median and entered the northbound traffic lanes of the interstate, where it collided with a passenger car, which rotated counterclockwise and departed the highway. The FedEx vehicle then hit the motorcoach, both vehicles departed the highway and a post-crash fire ensued.

10 dead in motorcoach-FedEx truck crash

The bus is traveling on a freeway and carrying high school students on their way to California’s Humboldt State University for a tour when the FedEx semi-truck crosses the freeway’s median and collides with the bus. The drivers of both vehicles, three chaperones and five students are killed. The California Highway Patrol and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the accident.

NTSB investigating crashes involving tire failure

In one of the crashes, an SUV’s tire tread separated, and the vehicle collided with a school bus carrying a high school baseball team. The National Transportation Safety Board is also investigating a crash of a church van in which the tire that failed was part of a product recall.
