Wheel-Check is designed to identify loose wheel nuts with a visual inspection. When wheel nuts are properly torqued to specs, Wheel-Checks are then placed on them in a uniformed pattern. Once a wheel-nut has loosened, Wheel-Check will become out of sequence. It will be visible when the driver does a walk-around check.  

Wheel-Check is also heat sensitive. If there is a binding brake or seized bearing, the heat is transferred through the stud and nut. Once the temperature exceeds 248 degrees Fahrenheit, the Wheel-Check will blister around the circumference and eventually start to distort.

Wheel-Check can also lower maintenance costs by eliminating unnecessary re-torquing, according to the company.
