Authorities rode on three of Vigo County School Corp.’s school buses in late September and wrote three traffic citations for motorists who violated the state’s school bus stop arm law. The enforcement action stemmed from complaints made by the school system’s bus drivers about alleged illegal passing.

Bus driver faces misdemeanor child abuse charge

The charge stems from an incident in August wherein a Nebraska school district driver dropped off a 6-year-old boy more than 15 miles from his home. A construction worker who found the boy crying as he walked out of town was able to call his mother and watch him while she came to pick up the boy.

Oscar Juracan noticed that a boy on the bus was not breathing, and the trainer quickly responded to perform abdominal thrusts on the elementary student. Spring (Texas) ISD requires all of its trainers to take a CPR course.

Driver evades gang members following bus after on-board fight

After a student involved in a fight on the bus jumped from the rear emergency door and got in a car with two other men to follow the bus, Harnett County school bus driver Sha-Wana Cameron was able to evade the car and contact police.
