Zonar is again offering grants for fleet management technology in partnership with the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT).

The 2017 Don Carnahan Memorial Grant program, jointly sponsored by Zonar and NAPT, will provide winners with up to $50,000 worth of school bus safety, security, and efficiency technology hardware from Zonar.

“We created the grant to provide school districts and communities with the safest school transportation technology available,” said H. Kevin Mest, senior vice president and general manager of passenger services for Zonar. “You can’t put a price on peace of mind, which is why we want to make technology affordable for school officials to look out for the students under their care and not worry about the price tag.”

Mike Martin, executive director of NAPT, added that the grant program enables association members to implement fleet management tools, even as they deal with budget cuts.

“School districts are constantly facing decreased budgets, forcing them to do more with less,” Martin said. “We’re partnering with Zonar to help districts keep students safe on their way to and from school and alleviate some of that financial burden.”

With the help of NAPT, Zonar has awarded dozens of technology grants over the past seven years. After reviewing the 2017 application group, Zonar will award this year’s grant winners on a rolling basis until September 30. The company will make a formal announcement of the winners at NAPT’s 2017 conference, which will be held Nov. 4 to 7 in Columbus, Ohio.
