ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota government shutdown ended Wednesday as the governor signed budget bills, and employees were called back to work Thursday morning.

As previously reported, state bus inspectors were off duty during the shutdown, but state pupil transportation director Lt. Ed Carroll and the tech sergeants were still working and available to respond to any school bus crashes.

Carroll said that bus inspections should now resume as scheduled prior to the shutdown.

“We are working on a plan to catch [up on] the inspections we missed in the last 21 days, but we will get it done,” he said.
