COQUITLAM, B.C. — Seon and Safe Fleet’s national United Against Bullying program has launched a “Season of Kindness” social media contest to help promote positive stories about public transit and student transportation.

School transportation departments, public transit agencies, and the public are invited to share a photo or a video of how a passenger or employee has spread kindness on a bus or on the street on their Facebook and Twitter pages to inspire their communities.

The contest aims to combat negative news coverage of tragic school bus accidents and bus driver attacks, according to Seon.

“In 2016, we’ve seen a lot of negative stories about school bus and public transportation, including derogatory comments and videos on social media after serious accidents or vicious driver attacks,” explained Lori Jetha, marketing manager at Seon. “We know how hard transportation teams work every day to transport passengers safely and live up to customer expectations. Inspired by the holiday season, we decided to celebrate 12 days of kindness to showcase the good deeds we witness every day in the industry.”

The Season of Kindness contest starts on Dec. 7. School bus and public transportation departments, as well as the general public in the U.S. and Canada, are encouraged to share on Facebook or Twitter a photo or a video of an act of kindness witnessed on a bus or on the street. Each day of the 12-day contest, which runs until Dec. 18, Seon and United Against Bullying will share a kindness message to inspire the transportation community. On Dec. 21, the creator of the video or the photo with the most likes will get a prize to celebrate the Season of Kindness.
