Propane Tech Training Earns Automotive Industry Award
NAFTC’s Propane Autogas Vehicle Technician Training, which was launched at Blue Bird’s facility in February, is recognized by the Automotive Training Managers Council.

NAFTC’s Propane Autogas Vehicle Technician Training, which was launched at Blue Bird’s facility in February (pictured), has won an award from the Automotive Training Managers Council.

A new training program that instructs technicians in repairing and maintaining propane autogas vehicles has been recognized with an automotive industry honor.
The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium’s (NAFTC’s) Propane Autogas Vehicle Technician Training earned the National Excellence in Training Award from the Automotive Training Managers Council. This is the fifth time that NAFTC has won the award.
NAFTC launched the Propane Autogas Vehicle Technician Training at the Blue Bird West facility in Fort Valley, Georgia, in February. After the debut session, NAFTC spent much of 2016 traveling the U.S. to train automotive technicians in the three-day course.
NAFTC developed the Propane Autogas Vehicle Technician Training through funding from the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC).
“The NAFTC and PERC were able to develop a partnership and create a course that will benefit automotive technicians across the country who work on [propane] vehicles,” NAFTC Director Bill Davis said. “Having so many propane autogas industry personnel work with the NAFTC provided the technical support to make this happen.”
PERC President and CEO Roy Willis called the Automotive Training Managers Council award “a wonderful recognition of the importance and quality” of the Propane Autogas Vehicle Technician Training.
NAFTC will receive the award in a formal presentation at the Automotive Training Managers Council’s annual reception during the AAPEX and SEMA shows in Las Vegas on Nov. 2.
