DALLAS — Tyler Technologies Inc. has signed an agreement with Columbus (Ohio) City Schools to provide the district with its Versatrans student transportation management solution.
The contract includes software licenses, related professional services, maintenance and support. Columbus City Schools, with more than 52,000 students, also uses Tyler’s Munis enterprise resource planning solution.
“As a Munis client, our department is integrated directly with payroll and general ledger, so we have a more accurate view of fund allocations and can make better informed decisions,” said Steve Simmons, director of transportation at Columbus City Schools.
The transportation department at Columbus City Schools serves 244 educational facilities and transports approximately 60 percent of enrolled students twice daily. With a fleet of 796 buses, the operation selected Versatrans for its product stability, enhanced technology features and ability to efficiently and cost-effectively manage day-to-day operations, officials said.
In addition to the Versatrans core routing and planning product, the district selected an array of Versatrans applications, including Onscreen for GPS and Triptracker.
“Tyler’s Versatrans solution will modernize Columbus City Schools’ routing procedures in huge ways because we’ll finally be able to link our GPS to our routes — something our current software does not provide — and our drivers will no longer have to manually write out 150 route changes daily,” Simmons said.
