WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has a new leader: Raymond Martinez.
President Trump nominated Martinez for the FMCSA administrator post in September. The Senate confirmed him on Feb. 13.
Since 2010, Martinez has been serving as chairman and chief administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Before that, he held the role of deputy U.S. chief of protocol and diplomatic affairs for the U.S. Department of State and the White House. He has also helmed the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) said it looks forward to working with Martinez in his new role as FMCSA administrator.
“NSTA congratulates Administrator Martinez on his appointment and appreciates the experience he brings to the position,” said Tiffany Boykin, executive director of the association. “We are looking forward to working collaboratively with Administrator Martinez and the FMCSA to continue pursuing the goals of providing safe, secure, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective school transportation services.”
