More special-needs conferences to be held in California
The Office of School Transportation events, slated for April 14-15 and Nov. 17-18, will focus on when and how to transport children with special needs.
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two more state conferences on special-needs transportation are slated to be held here this year.
The California Department of Education’s Office of School Transportation (OST) held an edition of its two-day Transporting Passengers with Special Needs conference in early January. OST will hold the conference again April 14-15 and Nov. 17-18.
The event will focus on two main subject areas: when and how to transport children with special needs. A few of the specific topics to be covered are navigating the special-education process, restraints and seclusion, loading and unloading, proper securement of passengers and wheelchairs, and transporting medications/adaptive devices.
The cost for attending the conference is $150 per person. The events will be held at OST’s training facility in West Sacramento.
