ALBANY, N.Y. — The number of industry officials who have completed the National Association for Pupil Transportation’s (NAPT) Special Needs Transportation (SNT) Training Program has grown to two dozen.

Colleen Cavanaugh, a consultant at Pupil Transportation Consulting Inc. in Jefferson, Mass., and Barbara Rendon, a trainer with Humble (Texas) Independent School District, are the 22nd and 23rd individuals, respectively, to achieve this recognition. Theresa Anderson, a consultant at Anderson Consulting LLC in Littleton, Colo., is the 24th person to complete the program.

Cavanaugh attended and completed the SNT courses at the NAPT Summit and the Edupro Group National Conference and Exhibition on Transporting Students with Disabilities and Preschoolers conference, while Rendon attended and completed the courses at the Edupro conference.

The NAPT SNT Training Program provides numerous opportunities for transportation personnel serving students with disabilities to access educational opportunities at both local and national conferences and to gain national recognition for their efforts.  

The program has a core curriculum that consists of six special-needs courses in a variety of settings, including a school bus roadeo and a trade show of school transportation products and services. The core curriculum is supplemented by two courses of elective instruction from the NAPT Professional Development Series Program.

The syllabus for the core curriculum has been specifically designed to increase an individual’s specific knowledge about transporting students with disabilities, officials said.
