AURORA, Ontario — Kirk Flach has joined Landmark Student Transportation as president, a role in which he will oversee all aspects of the company’s operations in North America.

Flach has more than 15 years’ experience in the student transportation industry. Most recently, he was senior vice president of operations for National Express Corp., where he was responsible for Stock Transportation in Canada and Durham School Services in the eastern U.S.

“Kirk is a great addition to our team,” said Barry Stock, one of the principals and founders of Landmark. “With his knowledge of the industry, his past experience and his leadership qualities, Kirk is the right person to guide the development of our business in North America.”

Flach said that he is excited about joining a company that gives customers the expertise of a mid-sized contractor, but with the hands-on responsiveness of a small, privately-owned operator.

“The mission and values of Landmark are aligned with my own beliefs of what makes a school bus operation successful,” Flach said. “I’m looking forward to working with the Landmark team to build an organization that is focused on people. Landmark’s structure will allow me to be actively engaged with both our employees and our customers.”

Flach began his career in 1995 with Laidlaw Passenger Services. In 2000, he joined Stock Transportation, which was acquired by National Express Corp. in 2002. He held a variety of challenging positions at Stock and National Express, including roles in operations and business development.

Flach also served on the board of the Ontario School Bus Association from 2000 to 2007, including terms as vice president and president. In 2010, Flach received the National School Transportation Association’s Golden Merit Award, which recognizes achievements in safety, business practice, and service to schools and the community.
