Durham sales team raises over $11K for Special Olympics

Durham School Services' sales team raised $11,194 through duck sales and donated an additional $5,000, which will help support year-round athletic training and competition in 19 sports for almost 21,500 Special Olympics athletes and over 13,000 young athletes in Illinois.

WARRENVILLE, Ill. — Durham School Services held onto its record of being the top corporate sales team for the Special Olympics Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby, company officials said.

The company raised $11,194 through duck sales and donated an additional $5,000, which will help support year-round athletic training and competition in 19 sports for almost 21,500 Special Olympics athletes and over 13,000 young athletes (ages 2-7) in Illinois.

“I’m proud of our duck sales team and their commitment to Special Olympics Illinois,” said David A. Duke, president and CEO of National Express Corp., Durham’s parent company. “Throughout the summer they engaged the entire corporate office by promoting the benefits of Special Olympics, and did a stellar job selling duck adoptions.”

To further encourage duck adoptions, Durham held an employee fundraising event in July as part of its annual drive to support Special Olympics. Employees held a Baggo Tournament and lined up for the chance to send senior executives into a dunk tank.

“I applaud the Durham team for being top corporate sales team,” said Dave Breen, president and CEO of Special Olympics Illinois. “Their energy and compassion for our organization is to be commended. We are grateful for the contributions they have made on our behalf.”
