SANDWICH, Mass. — Administrators from Sandwich Public Schools (SPS) plan to meet with officials from the district’s contractor, First Student Inc., to discuss EpiPen training for school bus drivers. 

First Student told the Cape Cod Times that training on the shot, which is for students with severe allergies, is handled on a contract-by-contract basis. 

First Student’s current contract with SPS does not require EpiPen instruction for drivers, but Superintendent Mary Ellen Johnson told the Cape Cod Times, "We're going to have a conversation around it to see if we can provide training." 

Some other Cape Cod school districts do require the training in their contracts with First Student.

Massachusetts law as of March requires new school bus drivers to be trained in EpiPen use to get their annual certification renewed, but the law does not cover drivers licensed before March.
