ST. PAUL, Minn. — State bus inspectors are not working during the Minnesota government’s shutdown, which went into effect after legislators failed to agree on a new budget by July 1.
At the Office of Pupil Transportation Safety, state director Lt. Ed Carroll and the tech sergeants are still working, and the tech sergeants will respond to any school bus crashes.
But with the bus inspectors off duty, the State Patrol will not be enforcing annual inspection decals if the buses were scheduled for inspection during the shutdown.
Once the bus inspectors return, they will resume their schedules, and any inspections that were missed during the shutdown will be made up thereafter.
