Dallas buys over 100 new buses, adds belts

Dallas County Schools has been acquiring a variety of new equipment for its giant fleet, from new school buses to lap-shoulder belts to stop-arm cameras. The district recently took delivery of 103 new Saf-T-Liner C2s from Thomas Built Buses. Director of Transportation Aaron Hobbs discusses the developments with SBF.

IC Bus Tulsa plant rewarded for energy efficiency

The school bus manufacturer receives an incentive payment for nearly $150,000 for retrofitting its Tulsa plant with high-efficiency lighting. Officials estimate that the new lighting at the IC Bus plant will save more than 1.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

Mechanic allegedly steals $400K in auto supplies

2 school bus inspectors win key Iowa award

Owen Freese and Verlan Vos, who have both been inspecting Iowa’s school buses for 13 years, receive the prestigious Tom Horn Memorial Award. Though they initially encountered suspicion and anger when they started scrutinizing fleets, state pupil transportation director Max Christensen says that they persevered and have become "the best delegates of good will" in their agency.
