UPDATE: Driver in fatal Georgia bus crash lacked state certification

The trainee driver had passed the "S" endorsement written test and was undergoing the required hours of training. He had been scheduled to finalize his skills assessment for the endorsement last Wednesday, two days after the accident. The school district will now review the training for all of its bus drivers to ensure that they are fully certified.

Oscar Juracan noticed that a boy on the bus was not breathing, and the trainer quickly responded to perform abdominal thrusts on the elementary student. Spring (Texas) ISD requires all of its trainers to take a CPR course.

Bus driver faces misdemeanor child abuse charge

The charge stems from an incident in August wherein a Nebraska school district driver dropped off a 6-year-old boy more than 15 miles from his home. A construction worker who found the boy crying as he walked out of town was able to call his mother and watch him while she came to pick up the boy.
