The Safe Journey Seat Mount by Ohio-based BESI, Inc., is now officially a patented product.

The company announced the publication of a patent for the seat mount, originally released in 2017 as a safe and easy-to-use option for securing special-needs students who have trouble staying seated in other products.

According to a news release, the company designed the tamper-resistant cam wrap for use in conjunction with standard BESI or universal vests. The upper section threads through existing D rings, reverses back, and connects behind the seat so that it’s out of reach of the student but easily accessible to the transporter.

The upper section also features improved adjustability to increase student safety and comfort, BESI stated. The lower portion features a tamper-resistant mechanism with the option to increase difficulty to prevent unfastening by a passenger.

The seat mount is available in small, medium, large, and extra-large sizes.
