The NexBus units, manufactured by Collins Bus Corp. and powered by a liquid propane injection system from CleanFUEL USA, are expected to run 15,000 miles annually. The buses are being delivered to Hempfield School District and East Penn School District.

STI unveils safety app

SchoolWheels SafeStop allows parents, students and schools to securely pinpoint the location of a vehicle on its route to and from school. The app updates in real time with stop/arrival information and includes notifications of when a student has boarded or exited the bus, according to the company.

Nebraska school’s propane bus investment pays off

Omaha Public Schools and Student Transportation Inc. (STI) collaborated on the district’s deployment of 435 Blue Bird Vision propane school buses last summer, which has saved approximately $200,000 versus diesel. In a new video released last week by the Propane Education & Research Council, school officials and the contractor explain the convenience of maintenance, cost savings, and performance of the buses in the state’s frigid winters.

STA secures $10 million California contract

The school bus contractor will serve San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools beginning in January under the five and a half year agreement, and it will provide 133 new, ultra-low-emission vehicles and 31 propane autogas vehicles.
