New York association announces safety competition winners

The New York School Bus Contractors Association’s 43rd Annual New York State School Bus Safety Competition was held May 17 in Valley Cottage, N.Y. and had more than 130 drivers, more than ever before. First-place winners included contestants from Suffolk Transportation Service Inc., Clarkstown Central School District and We Transport Inc./Towne Bus Corp.

Safety competition champ Antonio Perez joins California DOE

Perez will work for the state Office of School Transportation as bus driver instructor training program specialist. He previously served as instructor at San Dieguito Union High School District, and he has won the transit category in the School Bus Driver International Safety Competition for the past two years in a row.
