The school bus manufacturer announces at the NAPT Summit that it will develop a Saf-T-Liner C2 powered by compressed natural gas. Also, Thomas Built’s new propane Type A is now in production, and its propane Type C is expected to be available next year.

New tire pressure monitoring system offered for Thomas Built Buses

Daimler Trucks North America launches new tire performance monitoring technology as an aftermarket option for Thomas Built, Freightliner and Western Star commercial vehicles. Company officials say that the system allows for real-time monitoring for better fuel economy and safety.

CleanFUEL USA moves to new Mich. facility

Officials say that at 10,000 square feet, the new facility is double that of the previous facility, and that its configuration allows for better use of production space, including a dedicated clean room for sensitive component assembly and an expanded prototype shop for developing new designs and systems.

Dallas buys over 100 new buses, adds belts

Dallas County Schools has been acquiring a variety of new equipment for its giant fleet, from new school buses to lap-shoulder belts to stop-arm cameras. The district recently took delivery of 103 new Saf-T-Liner C2s from Thomas Built Buses. Director of Transportation Aaron Hobbs discusses the developments with SBF.

First Student adds 99 buses to Cincinnati fleet

The school bus contractor adds the Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner buses to its fleet that serves Cincinnati Public Schools. The buses feature an enlarged front window for greater visibility and a footprint of near-zero nitrogen oxide emission.

Thomas Built offers fall maintenance training program

The school bus manufacturer’s fall Maintenance Training Institute will be held in Omaha, Neb., Sept. 11-14. Topics scheduled to be covered include EPA emissions systems; advanced electrical; coolant, maintenance and cost savings; and utilizing websites, resources and wire diagrams.
