IC Bus unit with Cummins ISB debuts at NAPT

The first IC Bus CE Series school bus with the Cummins ISB 6.7-liter engine is publicly unveiled for the first time at the National Association for Pupil Transportation trade show. The manufacturer began taking orders for the ISB-equipped CE Series earlier this month.

Big changes in store for 2014 Summit

Next year’s NAPT Summit in Kansas City, Mo., will incorporate the America’s Best school bus tech/inspect event and a new competition related to special-needs transportation. Thermo King unveils HVAC solutions at NAPT

The supplier is showcasing its StudentAIRE line, which is designed to be compact and affordable for school bus operators, manufacturers and dealers. The line, which will be featured at the Thermo King booth during the trade show on Tuesday and Wednesday, includes a high performance air-conditioning system requiring minimal space; a bulkhead evaporator for small to mid-size school bus applications; and two split air-conditioning systems.

Seon continues bullying awareness in new blog post

Marketing Coordinator Tia O’Grady discusses different anti-bullying campaigns and how supporting such efforts helps to increase awareness for the cause. The company will continue to spread the word about its own “No Bullies on My Bus” campaign during the NAPT trade show in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Tuesday and Wednesday. Seon will also launch its Smart-Reach Cellular router at the show, which transmits live video when connected to a Seon DVR.

Transfinder to showcase new browser application at NAPT trade show

President and CEO Antonio Civitella will unveil the browser application for pupil transportation management and give a presentation on next generation innovations on Oct. 22. The company will also celebrate its 25th anniversary.

NTSB Vice Chairman Christopher A. Hart will headline the NAPT/NASDPTS joint session. Emmy-nominated writer and historian Daniel Blake Smith will present a screening of the film “Impact: After the Crash,” a reenactment of the catastrophic 1988 bus crash in Carrollton, Ky., that shares inspirational stories of survivors.

Christopher Hart, vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, will address NAPT and NASDPTS members in a joint session. He is expected to discuss recent crash investigation results and recommendations. Also during the joint session, attendees will watch the film “Impact: After the Crash,” which reenacts the catastrophic 1988 bus crash in Carrollton, Ky., and shares inspirational stories of survivors.

Seon campaign aims to stop bullying on the bus

In conjunction with National Bullying Prevention Month in October, Seon is launching an ongoing campaign called "No Bullies on My Bus." Planned activities include holding a coloring contest for kids and distributing buttons at the NAPT trade show.

NAPT News & Views — Like fire drills, shooter drills are vital

We need to develop a proactive approach — meaning run purposefully, hide intelligently and fight fiercely, in that order (fight only as a last resort) — to an active shooter scenario and teach it to everyone, especially students. The drill should be done in conjunction with local law enforcement personnel.
