Missouri district to transition fleet to CNG

In a 10-year lease-purchase agreement, Lee’s Summit R-7 School District will replace its diesel fleet with 149 Thomas Built school buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). The district’s program also includes a shift toward CNG-powered facility maintenance trucks and continued use of all-electric delivery trucks.

Cleaire assets acquired by ESW

Cleaire, which offered a variety of diesel particulate filters to retrofit school buses and other vehicles, closed in January. Environmental Solutions Worldwide has now acquired Cleaire's product line and certain assets, and California air officials say that the company "is committed to providing technical and warranty support to Cleaire customers."

7 school districts awarded grants for bus retrofits

Diesel retrofit supplier Cleaire shuts down

The company, which offered a variety of diesel particulate filters to retrofit school buses and other vehicles, closed last month. Cleaire’s LongMile filter has reportedly been linked to brush fires and was voluntarily recalled last year. A California Air Resources Board official says that “it is paramount that the safety concerns with the Cleaire LongMile system are immediately addressed.”

Missouri lead producer to provide $300,000 for bus retrofits

As part of an agreement with the EPA, the Doe Run Co. will offer a total of $500,000 to help Missouri districts retrofit diesel school buses and improve environmental practices in school science labs. Districts in Jefferson County, Mo., get first crack at the grants.
