Weather: Sun, Snow and Rainbows

Debbie Wheaton of Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District No. 6 in Cottonwood, Ariz., submitted this striking photo.

This shot submitted by Tom Knick of Clearview Local Schools in Lorain, Ohio, was taken after a windy snowstorm. He says the wind forced the bus doors open, and this was the result.

John Clements of Kings Canyon Unified School District in Reedley, Calif., sent us this photo. He says the shot was taken by Cindy Roberts while she stopped to check the bus' tire chains.

Sid Bartos snapped and submitted this shot. He says it was taken on a field trip to central Ohio. Bartos works for Mason (Ohio) City School District, which is located in a suburb of Cincinnati.

John Fahey with Tyler Technologies submitted this shot of buses at First Student's terminal in Buffalo, N.Y.

Patrick Clark of Licking Heights Local Schools in Pataskala, Ohio, says he took this photo while starting the school system's fleet at 4 a.m. It was 3 degrees outside, with 35 to 40 mph winds.

Laura Forty captured this sunrise in Crystal Lake, Ill. Forty works for the Transportation Joint Agreement operating at Crystal Lake School Districts 47 and 155.

Tom Carroll submitted this shot from his operation's bus yard in the 1970s. Carroll, who works for Shasta Union High School District in Redding, Calif., says that while snow like this isn't a "big deal" for some folks, "it doesn't snow at 500 feet very often."
