The roundtable discussions apparently brought out someone’s competitive side.

Another SBX activity was one-on-one consultations, in which school bus operators met with suppliers. Seen here is Reid Oyster of Apple Bus Co., talking with reps from Zonar.

Suppliers also gave group presentations for school bus operators. Seen here is Jeff Cassell of School Bus Safety Co.

The state-of-the-art Adams 12 facility, which the transportation team moved into in 2010, replaced an outdated and outgrown building that was built in 1969.

The 2016 School Bus eXchange (SBX), held by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) and School Bus Fleet, took place April 11 to 13 at the Omni Interlocken Hotel outside of Denver.

Mike Martin, executive director of NAPT, served as emcee for SBX. Here, he welcomes the group on the first night.

During a series of roundtables, SBX attendees deliberated on a range of issues and wrote key points with markers on paper tablecloths. Seen here are Cheryl Fisher from Fauquier County (Va.) Public Schools and Randy Ray from IC Bus.

Each table had a set topic — for example, budget/finance — and a starter question for the first group.

Before rotating to a new table, roundtable participants left a question for the next group, as seen here.

There was no shortage of food at SBX.

The snow-capped Rocky Mountains, seen here from a window in the hotel, were a dramatic backdrop for the event.

SBX attendees got to tour the transportation facility at nearby Adams 12 Five Star Schools. The building has features to reduce energy use, such as extra insulation, skylights, and heated shop floors.
