Judge: Driver’s suit over flag firing should go to trial

Ken Webber was fired last year for flying a Confederate flag on his personal vehicle on school property, and he sued to get his job back. The bus company and the school district had argued the suit should be dismissed because he flew the flag as an expression of what he called his “redneck lifestyle” and not protected political speech, but U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Clarke now rules against the motion.

The Degnitz family, after 40 years in the business, sells Degnitz Bus Service to Riteway Bus Service Inc. Degnitz served the School District of Random Lake in Wisconsin, and officials say Degnitz's management and drivers will continue in their roles as part of the Riteway team.

Ind. district to adopt transit-style bus routes

The changes at Washington Community Schools will take effect Aug. 14 and are made in response to state budget constraints. Officials say the routes now have designated stops within an area or region throughout the city limits, and buses will no longer do door-to-door stops, among other new policies.
