Maryland county launches stop-arm camera program

Several Montgomery County Public Schools buses are now equipped with automated cameras to record illegal passing. Officials say that the program will expand over the next few months and will target bus routes with the highest reports of violations. The fine for violations caught on camera is $125.

New contractor takes over bus service at Massachusetts district

With the shutdown of Atlantic Express, Hudson Public Schools contracts with North Reading Transportation to provide school bus service for the rest of the school year. District Superintendent Kevin Lyons tells parents that while changing contractors in the middle of the year is not an ideal situation, “we are working hard to help ensure the smoothest of transitions.”

Driver who left child on bus expected to resign

Dan Danielson, who is also the transportation director at Algona (Iowa) Community School District, allegedly left Logan Cavin, a 4-year-old student, on a school bus for several hours on the morning of Dec. 19. Cavin was discovered at the school district's transportation facility at about 1 p.m. by another bus driver.
