Rhode Island city official offers help for stranded bus

Twelve buses used to transport students for Providence Public Schools were delayed on Wednesday due to snowy and icy conditions, and a district spokeswoman tells ABC 6 that the district’s bus company did a “phenomenal job” in addressing the situation. Providence Mayor Angel Taveras also offered his services when he noticed a bus that was stuck.

Michigan school bus driver Jayce Dempsey spots an SUV approaching his bus on the right as 9-year-old Casey is preparing to disembark, so he grabs him and pulls him up the stairs as the motorist passes the bus. Bill would exempt Louisiana districts from fuel tax

Under the new legislation, fuel used for school buses operated by municipal and parish school boards would not be subject to the state fuel tax. Currently, contractor-operated school buses in Louisiana qualify for a refund of three-fourths of the fuel tax.

Bill would require motorists to stop for buses on private roads

Current Arizona law requires motorists to stop for school buses that are loading or unloading students on public highways. A bill under consideration in the state Legislature would amend the law for it to apply to private roads and driveways as well, but it would not apply to a bus that is stopped in a parking lot.
