Teen still missing after taking ride from stranger

Kathlynn Shepard, 15, and a 12-year-old girl were lured into a man's truck shortly after exiting their school bus last week in Dayton, Iowa. The 12-year-old was able to escape, and the suspect was found dead, but Shepard is still missing.

School buses loaded with supplies for tornado victims

Student transportation provider Durham School Services is collecting emergency supplies for the victims of the devastating storm in Oklahoma. Students from Guthrie, Okla., have also brought a school bus stocked with supplies to Moore, which was hit by a tornado that was more than a mile wide.

Ad firm owner: Bus ads are safe, beneficial for districts

Todd Isaacs of District Solutions says that school bus advertising can help cash-strapped districts raise revenue, and he points to the ads' record on the road. Cleaire assets acquired by ESW

Cleaire, which offered a variety of diesel particulate filters to retrofit school buses and other vehicles, closed in January. Environmental Solutions Worldwide has now acquired Cleaire's product line and certain assets, and California air officials say that the company "is committed to providing technical and warranty support to Cleaire customers."

Child Safety Network offers Safe Bus program

In partnership with the School Bus Safety Co., the Child Safety Network initiative aims to reduce school bus accidents — with an added benefit of generating revenue for districts. The free Safe Bus program, which receives funds from corporate sponsorships, includes a comprehensive training curriculum, school bus safety PSAs, and a GPS and parental notification system.
