North Carolina districts could pay more transportation-related costs

District's revamped transportation plan will provide efficient service

Under the plan, which Seattle Public Schools’ transportation manager discusses with SBF, transportation zones will streamline bus routes for attendance-area elementary and K-8 schools. Ride times will decrease to 25 minutes or less, and about 80 buses will be taken off the road.

Delaware governor proposes changes to pupil transportation funding

In his recommended fiscal year 2012 budget, Gov. Jack Markell calls for school districts to cover 10 percent of their bus route reimbursement costs. The new plan would also prevent districts from asking voters to approve increased taxes to cover transportation costs.

Rally held in support of school bus kidnappers' release

Thirty-five years ago, James and Richard Schoenfeld and Fred Woods kidnapped 26 children and a driver from a school bus, intending to hold them for $5 million ransom. Supporters of the trio who attend the rally say that they are not a danger to society, but some of the victims say they should not be paroled.
