Former and current school bus drivers in Michigan and Oklahoma are recognized on Veterans Day for their service in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Bowcamp has been deployed to work on several projects in Saginaw, Mich., and abroad, including in Kuwait from 2006 to 2007, and Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011 and 2013 to 2014.

Cpl. Lewie Shaw (center), a former school bus driver for Claremore (Okla.) Public Schools, was honored during a special Veterans Day assembly, which also doubled as a special graduation ceremony, at Claremore High School on Nov. 7.

Shaw, a 95-year-old World War II veteran, dropped out of high school at 17 to work as a school bus driver and janitor before enlisting in the Marines in 1943. During the assembly, he was proud to wear the graduation cap and gown he sacrificed almost 76 years ago.
