Iowa updates school bus spec rules

Among changes to the state's school transportation equipment specs are requirements for remote-controlled mirrors, fluorescent seat belts for drivers, and fire block upholstery in all seating positions. Lap belts are no longer allowed on new school buses in Iowa, except for use with child seats.

HSM acquires Summit Seating Inc.

Summit Seating is a manufacturer of seating products for transit buses, recreational vehicles, vans and other specialty vehicles for original equipment or aftermarket use. Officials say the acquisition is expected to expand HSM’s footprint and leadership role in the transportation seating market and will immediately grow both the near- and long-term growth opportunities for the HSM Transportation Solutions business unit.
