Pupil Transporters Capture Winter Weather

SafetyPhotos 12

Late January and early February 2011 have produced severe weather in the Midwest and Northeast, with residents contending with massive amounts of snowfall and frigid temperatures. Here, we share some wintry photos submitted to us by employees at pupil transportation operations over the last few years.

A second photo from Mike Bacco, contract manager for a First Student terminal in Pittsburgh. Bacco said it took three days to dig buses out from under the snow.

The snow is more than blanketing these buses! Photo submitted by Don Hartwig, supervisor of transportation for Colonial School District in New Castle, Del.

Here's a school bus that's weathered a few snow days. Dianna Rasing of Winnipeg, Manitoba, took the photo in April 2005 on the outskirts of Baker Lake, Nunavut, which is near the Artic Circle. Rasing, whose mother is a school bus driver, said she thought the bus had been there for many years.
